Continuing to Grow

We think that if the MPRC is going to continue and grow, this is certainly one way that it will happen.

First Oscar Marcia, a graduate from Baxter Institute and a preacher and professor, brought in lots and lots of cassette tapes and other information from classes he took by correspondence from the Cursos Biblicos Para Obreros Cristianos (Bible Courses for Christian workers) in Farmersville, LA. He had studied them and learned much from them, but he hadn't used them in a while and realized they were just taking up space that his growing family needed. Therefore he knew the best thing he could do was donate them to the MPRC (Mission Point Resource Center). He knew that we would
  • catalog the information,
  • store the tapes and DVDs securely, and
  • make sure that they got distributed to those who needed them through our lending library.
We are very happy to comply. It is especially gratifying to us to see resources being donated from local sources so that others can use them.

Note that Oscar did not know that he would get his picture taken and be 'written up'. He just wanted to help others.

Then Victor Flores returned from Choluteca (on the Pacific coast side of Honduras) for more supplies from us. You may remember that he was here in December 2008 and rode away with as much as he and Javier Perez could get on a motorcycle. This trip he got more material, and this time we got a photo. He got New Testaments, study lessons for his congregation, materials for the children coming to Sunday School, and evangelistic materials. This is one of our great joys - distributing materials to those who will use them for God's work.
And, of course, it is a delight when a son of one of the preachers uses our children's books while his dad is doing research. We hope that young Kevin Molina will become a preacher like his dad, Marlon Molina. And, of course, continue to use the MPRC for resources.

Please note the matching motorcycle helmets on the floor.

New Congregation in Provenir-Wasparani

What can make a preacher happier than materials to win new souls away from the world to our Lord Jesus and to build up the spiritual strength of those who have been born again. Natalio de Los Santos and Cristóbal Ramirez, who work as preachers during the week for the clinics of Predisan think that "that is what it is all about".

These two hard-working evangelists, working in the new congregation of El Porvenir-Wasparani (yes, it is hard for us to say also!) in Olancho, Honduras, Smiling Preachers came to the MPRC Saturday morning to request Bibles for the 4 Christians in this new community project. Instead, they left with: 20 New Testaments for people with whom they are studying, 15 songbooks for the new congregation, 30 cups and a serving tray for the Lord's Supper, 15 copies each of the 4 Bible studies, "God, The Bible and You", and personal copies, for each of the two men, of the study books, "The Christian March; a study on the book of Acts", "What Does the Bible Say" and "Responses to the Questions Asked by Adolescents About Drugs, Alchohol, Premarital Sex, Dancing, and The Church".

At this time we only have enough Bibles to give one to each family in the church that does not have a Bible. Two of the Christians have Bibles already and the other two cannot read. But we try to make sure that no one that comes to the Center goes away empty handed.

Natalio, whom we have known since 1996 when he was a student at Baxter Institute, returned later in the afternoon for 2 hours to study English via an audio/visual program that the MPRC has on computer.

Jorge on the road to Villa Nueva Capapan
Jorge appreciated that these leaders helped him push the truck when it was stuck in the mud several times.
When the road to Villa Nueva was too bad for the truck, Jorge had to walk 2 hours, crossing the same river 6 times.
Jorge did not want to take off his shoes one more time.
After a hard trip, Jorge finally got to preach in the campaign at Villa Nueva.
And a new sister in Las Casitas
