Grand Evangelistic Campaign - EBS, the church of Christ in Barrio Nueva Esperanza, and the Metro Church in Orlando, FL

The Grand Evangelistic Campaign for the School of the Good Samaritan and Nueva Esperanza got off the ground well when Olancho TV decided to film The Messengers, the special Chorus of the Metro church in Orlando, FL, on Thursday (8th of April) afternoon before the first night's meeting. Special thanks go to Freddy Lopez for arranging the songfest on TV.

Sunday: Sunday started off with cooler weather and a nice breeze. A number of congregations gathered to worship together, including La Mansión, El Colegio, and Nueva Esperanza. The Messengers sang again for us, Samuel Ramirez led us in song, and then Juan Carlos led our thoughts in the sharing of the Lord's Supper.

Dan Holland, a preacher from the Metro church, shared with us from Luke 15, the story Jesus told of the Prodigal Son. But the theme he emphasized for us was the part of the older brother. Jesus called us to celebrate with him in the great celebration of the return of those who have wandered from our God. Dan was interpreted by Ricardo Lee, from the Woodmont church of Christ in Nashville.

After the crowd had dispersed, the crew from the Metro church packed up their equipment and we had a lunch from Tonita Pacheco, the Director of EBS. Then we took some time for photos before we headed for the spot where we would baptize the 2 young ladies.

Later Sunday afternoon, we visited the Central Park in Catacamas, Olancho and had Sarita Ice Cream. That is practically a required stop for every visitor to Catacamas.

And yes, that is a BIG tree.

Saturday and the Third Night: Saturday was a very busy day with a men's seminar in the morning, a youth rally in the afternoon, and then a time of gathering in the evening. A good crowd heard the small chorus from the church in Nueva Esperanza, the Messengers and then a lesson from Dan Holland. This 3rd night there were 4 responses. Two of those wanted to be baptized and two wanted encouragement in their walk with Jesus.

Responses Claudia and Yeny came forward desiring to give their life to Christ in baptism and Karla and Angela came forward desiring the prayers and the encouragement of the brothers and sisters for assistance in their walk.

Second Night: The second night went much better than the first. Freddy Lopez supplied a generator sufficient to keep the sound system going, then God blessed us with a gentle rain to cool us down, and then Dan Holland preached an excellent lesson from Luke about the different soils - each one signifying a different type of heart. The examples he used were excellent for all us hearers.

First Night: The first evening, overcoming power outages and brownouts that left their sound equipment useless, the chorus sang and Dan Holland, pulpit minister at the Metro church in Winter Springs (Orlando), FL, preached about finding treasure in the gospel and in Jesus Christ. Special thanks go to Alex Lastra for figuring out how to work around the power problems.
